Short Bio

Marco Carli is a PhD student in Clinical and Translational Sciences at the University of Pisa. His research is focused on the physiology and pathology of dopaminergic system in the central nervous system as well as in the periphery. He is currently studying the possibility that D2 dopaminergic receptors give rise to a C-terminal fragment by means of an internal ribosome entry site, and if synthesized where this receptor fragment localizes and its role in cell function. Other research interests include the mechanism of action of dopaminergic drugs, both agonists such as anti-Parkinson drugs and antagonists such as antipsychotics, and the toxicity of environmental pollutants on dopaminergic neurons.
