Dr Giovanni Fulvio completed his trainee period in Pisa, where he focused on Sjogren Syndrome and Imaging, with an emphasis on salivary gland ultrasonography and MRI. During this time, he explored new techniques such as ultrasonography of minor salivary glands using a particular probe with ultra-high frequency ultrasound.
Dr Giovanni Fulvio is currently a PhD student in Clinical and Translational Sciences at the University of Pisa, a bursary founded by PNRR (Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza). His research project focuses on the intersection between clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) and autoimmune disease. Specifically, he is investigating how clonal somatic mutations could represent a common pathway that explains the link between autoimmune, haematological, and cardiovascular manifestations. Through his research, he hopes to uncover potential targeted therapies for these conditions.
