Short Bio

Alberto Bolletta is a PhD student in the Clinical and Translational Sciences Program at Pisa University. Currently, his main research interest is microsurgery with a special focus on lymphatic surgery. Core of his work is the study of the new frontiers of lymphatic reconstruction in patients affected by breast cancer-related lymphedema. In particular, his PhD project aims at developing a translational approach to lymphedema patients, comprising imaging-guided supermicrosurgical lymphaticovenous anastomoses and robotically-assisted lymph node transplantation. He strongly believes that the development of imaging technologies will have an important impact on surgical innovation. His other research interests include the use of novel imaging techniques in surgical planning and the development of new approaches to complex microsurgical reconstructions.
