Carla Gambale

The research project of Dr. Carla Gambale is entitled “Impact of radioiodine therapy on the outcome of biochemical persistent and/or metastatic differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) patients”. Her research interests are inspired by recent trend to redefine the therapeutic role of radioactive iodine in differentiated thyroid cancer. She analyzes the correlation among pathological features, molecular pattern and clinical outcome in patients with metastatic differentiated thyroid cancer treated with several radioactive iodine treatments. The aim of her research is to define if some clinical and molecular variables are able to predict the response to therapy in this group of patients, and to identify these variables to improve the therapeutic management.
