Short Bio

Chiara Milano is a Ph.D. student in Clinical and Translational Sciences at University of Pisa. During Neurology Residency training program, she focused on epilepsy and she developed a deep interest in the diagnosis and management of the disease.  Her research is currently concentrated on the role of immune system in ictogenesis and epileptogenesis. The main hypothesis of her project is that drug-resistance in epilepsy could be sustained by neuroinflammatory mechanisms. Her aim will be to identify peripheral biomarkers of neuroinflammation that could help to distinguish drug-responsive and drug-resistant patients, with potential prognostic and therapeutic implications
