Short Bio

Donatella Gilio is a Ph.D. student in the Clinical and Translational Sciences at University of Pisa. Her research interests focus lipodystrophic syndromes, which are a group of rare disorders that have in common selective deficiency of adipose tissue in the absence of nutritional deprivation or catabolic state. She is mostly interested in exploring the mechanisms of fat loss due to specific variants identified in the clinical and evaluating and analyzing data involving clinical and immunological characteristics of patients with immunological abnormalities and lipodystrophy. Donatella will also be appointed as a Research Fellow for two years beginning February 20, 2023, at the University of Michigan.
