Short Bio
Francesca got her master’s degree in Medicine and Surgery at University of Pisa in 2018 with a thesis on Facioscapulo-humeral muscular dystrophy. She entered the Neurology residency program in 2019 and is currently a last-year resident. Since then, she has been involved in research and care for patients with neuromuscular diseases. Her main areas of interest include inherited and acquired myopathies (muscular dystrophies, metabolic and congenital myopathies, inflammatory myopathies), motor neuron diseases with special focus on SMA and neurogenetics. She participates to the European Network for Rare Diseases (ERN) for Neuromuscular disorders (EURO-NMD) activities. Her PhD project aims at deep phenotyping and identification of novel biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets in Pompe Disease taking advantage of new technologies.
