Giovanni Palermo MD is a neurologist and a PhD student in Clinical and Translational Sciences at the University of Pisa. His research primarily focuses on Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementias. He is currently involved in the use of magnetic resonance imaging and molecular imaging approaches (positron emission tomography -PET and single-photon emission computed tomography -SPECT) in patients with Parkinson’s disease to understand its pathophysiology and to monitor disease progression, specifically aimed at investigating the neuropathological mechanisms and/or compensatory changes underlying motor and cognitive disturbances.
