Short Bio

Iacopo Franconi is a first-year PhD student in Clinical and Translational Sciences at the University of Pisa. He is specialized in infectious and tropical diseases and is currently undergoing a second residency program in clinical microbiology. His main field of research is antifungal resistance and hospital acquired fungal infections. His PhD program aims at investigating clinical and molecular epidemiology of fungal infections as well as the underlying resistance mechanisms with a specific focus on Candida parapsilosis. Other research topics of interest comprise study and development of new tools in clinical microbiology diagnostics along with drug interactions and synergism between antifungal compounds and human lactoferricin-derived peptide hLF1-11.
