Noemi Giannini is a Radiation Oncologist and Ph.D. student in Clinical and Translation Science Program at Pisa University. During her career, she developed a strong interest in preclinical and translational cancer research in order to overcome the plateau reached by conventional treatments. In the last year of her specialization, she attended the laboratories of Italian Institute of Technology where she worked with in vitro and in vivo tumour models for the evaluation of synergistic co-therapies of oral and pancreatic carcinoma. Her PhD research focus on a ground-breaking radiation technique, FLASH-radiotherapy, which has experimentally highlighted the possibility of increasing the therapeutic window thanks to his selective sparing effect of normal tissues and iso-efficacy on tumour cells.
