Paola Perrera

Paola Perrera is a PhD student in Clinical and Translational Research at the University of Pisa. Her PhD project is focused on the study of neurotrophic viruses and induced cytopathic damage. In particular, she is interested in the molecular mechanisms of Herpes Simplex Virus and how this virus can infect neuron cells and activate the stress response after infection. Her passion is neuroscience in fact she dedicated herself to the study of Alzheimer’s disease during her master’s degree training. She hopes to continue this exciting research with the aim of finding a mechanism linking neurotropic virus infection and neurodegenerative diseases.
