Short Bio

Alessandra Salvetti obtained her MSc in molecular biology (cum laude) from the University of Pisa and, from the same institution, she got a PhD in cell and developmental molecular biology and biophysics. She is associate professor at the University of Pisa where she teaches applied biology. She coordinates the Nursing Degree at the learning center of Massa-Carrara and the International summer school “From genes to cells: a basic course of molecular, cellular and ultrastructural biology” of the University of Pisa. She has a long-held interest in the molecular and cellular mechanisms of stem cell maintenance, homing and differentiation. Currently, in collaboration with national and international research groups, she mainly works on: a) the interaction of the immune system and wound healing during tissue regeneration in vivo using animal models; b) effects of altered gravity and ROS on stem cell biology and tissue regeneration. She published 70 articles in peer-reviewed journals, as well as several book chapters (H index: 25; mean impact factor of the last 5 years: 5). She coordinated national and international funded projects in the field of stem cells and tissue regeneration. https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9154-9773
