Short Bio

Michela Ferrucci, Ph.D, is Associate Professor of Human Anatomy at the University of Pisa

Her research activity involves neuroscience, being primarily focused on investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration in various cellular and animal models. Her research skills concern methodological procedures in light microscopy, including techniques of histochemical and immunohistochemical staining, and image analysis. She carried out a novel procedure for stereological-like neuronal count within selected CNS areas, which for the first time provided the quantification of brain stem motor neurons in a transgenic mouse model of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. She serves as Reviewer and member of the Board of high cited journals. Her research data are published in prestigious international peer-reviewed journals.
