Short Bio

Dr. Romano Danesi received the MD degree from the University of Pisa (Italy, the PhD degree in Pharmacology from the Superior School S. Anna, Pisa (Italy) and the board certifications in Respiratory diseases, Clinical Pharmacology and Oncology from the University of Pisa, Italy. Since 2005 he is full professor of Pharmacology at the University of Pisa. He was awarded fellowships of the Italian Association for Cancer Research, Italian Foundation of Cancer Research and from the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer and U.S. Public Health Service, to work as a visiting fellow in the Medicine Branch, NCI, NIH, Bethesda, MD (USA), and as assistant professor of Hematology/Oncology in the Division of Hematology-Oncology of the University of Virginia at Charlottesville (USA). Dr. Danesi is director of the School of Specialization in Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, of the master course in “Clinical trials in internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology” and of the postgraduate course in “Molecular biomarkers predictive of response to oncological drugs: experimentation, technologies and clinical applications”. Current research is focused on the molecular profiling of drug resistance in cancer. He published 460 full papers in international journals of oncology and pharmacology and since 2002 he is reviewer of research projects of the European Commission and several other European and non-European Funding Agencies.
