Short Bio

Michele Marinò obtained his Medical Degree in 1991 and Specialty Degree in Endocrinology in 1996, at the University of Pisa. He completed his education at the Pathology Research Laboratory of Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School (1997-2000) as a Post-Doctoral Fellow, receiving the American Thyroid Association Grant in 1999. From 2000 to 2003, he was part of the Medical staff at the University Hospital of Pisa. From 2004 (Confirmed in 2007) to 2018 he was Assistant Professor of Endocrinology at the University of Pisa. Since 2018 he is Associate Professor in Endocrinology, University of Pisa. In 2021 he obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor.Michele Marinò is the Head of the Day Hospital and the Outpatient Clinic for the study and treatment of Graves’ Orbitopathy.His research activity concerns the pathogenesis and therapy of Graves’ Orbitopathy and the synthesis of thyroid hormones, for which he obtained PRIN fundings from the Ministry of University and Scientific Research, as well as from the American Thyroid Association and the University of Pisa. In addition to various Book Chapters, Michele Marinò is the author of more than 150 publications in peer-reviewed International Journals, most of which as first or last author.Michele Marinò is a member of the Executive Committee of the European Group On Graves’ Orbitopathy (EUGOGO), and is a member of the European Thyroid Association, the American Thyroid Association, the European Society of Endocrinology, the Italian Society of Endocrinology, and the Italian Thyroid Association. From 2004 to 2018 he served as Coordinating Editor of the magazine “l’Endocrinologo” (Springer); he is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal Of Endocrinological Investigation and former Associate Editor of the Frontiers in Endocrinology; he carries out Reviewer activities for the main International Journals in the field of endocrinology and cellular and molecular biology.Michele Marinò carries out his teaching activity in the Integrated Course of Endocrinology and in the Specialty School of Endocrinology of the University of Pisa.
