Short Bio

Serena Danti is Professor of Biomaterials at the Dept. of Civil and Industrial Engineering, University of Pisa, Italy. She received her M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pisa in 2003. Dr. Danti was a visiting research scholar at the Center for Excellence in Tissue Engineering, Rice University, Houston, TX, in 2006 during her Ph.D. in “Health Technologies: Management and evaluation of the innovations in the Biomedical field” at the Center for Excellence in Computer Assisted Surgery (ENDOCAS), Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Pisa, which was defended in 2007. Her postdoctoral training was performed at the Center for the Clinical Use of Stem cells (CUCCS), Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Pisa and at the Otorhinolaryngology Unit, Pisa Hospital. Dr. Danti coordinated the European project “4NanoEARDM”, EuroNanoMed III program, and has participated in several national and international projects. Since 2018, she has been an affiliate researcher at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA. Dr. Danti authored more than 130 scientific papers and is an inventor of 5 patents. Her research interest relies on smart biomaterial approaches for pathology resolution, among others, ear, bone and cancer.
